My name is Paul Hunt but you can call me PAULIE. I'm a senior motion designer and art director.
After nearly eight years with MPC and The Mill, like many others, I experienced the sudden and sad loss of an incredible institution. Now, for the first time in almost a decade I am back to freelancing and ready to embrace new opportunities!
I kicked off my creative journey studying graphic design back when Macs were still beige and rectangular. My tools of choice were Omnicrom machines, photocopiers, and Lettraset. During that time, magazine design was all the rage, with iconic publications like Raygun, Thrasher, Bikini, and iD leading the charge. The design world was shaking things up, with a punk edge inspired by studios like Tomato and Attic, and visionary designers such as David Carson and Jonathan Barnbrook.
I've always had a passion for typography and layout, but it wasn't until I saw Kyle Cooper's titles for "Seven" that I realized the magic of animation. Watching those titles ignited a fire in me—suddenly, I wanted to bring my designs to life! My journey took a turn when I returned to college as a mature student to study traditional animation. It was during this time that I landed my first job in the industry as a storyboard artist, which eventually led me to a full-time position as a junior motion designer at SPOV.
Even after all these years, I’m still captivated by well-balanced design, strong typography, and the art of visual storytelling. I have a deep love for cinema, documentaries, music, and video games, and I cherish my connection with the outdoors. Photography is another passion of mine, and every now and then, I enjoy getting back to my roots with some analog creativity, painting portraits or exploring with a power tool.
